In this Quick Video Overview of LONG EXPOSURE I talk about 3 Striking Features of Long Exposure Photography - essentially 3 ways in which this Type of Photography can Enhance a Scene leading to a more Professional Looking result compared to a regular exposure!

If you watch the Video you will get an idea of the Type of Shots using Long Exposure Technique. Long Exposure can be done in Low Light Conditions - examples being Night Photography, star (astro) Photography, Fireworks, Car trails and Ocean or River and Waterfall scenes.

Long Exposure can also be done during Daylight conditions with the help of Filters. Neutral Density Filters effectively cut back the light allowing you to use Longer Shutter Speeds (seconds and beyond) without Overexposing the shot.

The Most effective Long Exposure sots have some Moving Elements in the Scene - like Water or Clouds for example.

The 3 Striking Features where Long Exposure can really Enhance an image are:

1. Bring out or Reveal Color - Long Exposure Photography can Enhance or reveal Color in your scene by "Painting" on more color in the frame (compared to a quick Shutter Speed) - great examples are Car Trials and Fireworks images. They can also Reveal Color more by removing Distracting Texture by Smoothing areas showing the dominant Color.
2. Simplify by Smoothing Details - Simplification is a very useful method, by using Long Exposure details and texture can be reduced (in the moving parts) giving you a Simplification of areas of your frame leading to a more pleasing result.
3. Contrast in Texture - By creating Smoothing in areas of Movement, Long Exposure effectively brings in Texture Contrast in your scene. Static objects (especially with Texture) provide a nice Contrast with Smoothed parts of your scene resulting from blurred movement. Contrast in your scene is a useful tool for Composition and can lead to a More Impactful image!
